What is Joywend?

Joywend is a free travel planning app built for families. It helps you create personalized itineraries, track your savings, and book trip components step by step — all without debt pressure or hidden fees.

Is Joywend really free?

Yes. Estimating a trip, saving for it, building the itinerary and booking step by step are all free, with no usage charges. Wendell Assists is an optional paid plan you can cancel anytime.

What does Wendell Assists add?

Assists is ongoing help along the way, including watching your flight fares and telling you when they move. It tells you what changed. It never books anything and never tells you when to buy.

Does Joywend support international and domestic trips?

Yes — international vacations, domestic U.S. trips, weekend getaways, and local staycations. Family adventure is not defined by distance.

Planning & Itineraries

How does planning a trip work?

Tell Joywend where your family would love to go and who's going. You get an estimate for the whole trip — flights, stays, getting around, things to do and spending money — and choose a monthly amount to save. Joywend then builds a day-by-day itinerary around your trip that you can shape as you go. Not sure where to go? Start from one of our trip ideas.

Can I change the itinerary after it's generated?

Yes. You can adjust the trip duration, swap out destinations, add new cities, and customize activities. The itinerary is a starting point you can shape to fit your family.

What is Wendell?

Wendell is Joywend's built-in AI travel assistant. Once your itinerary is set, Wendell helps you plan each day, suggest activities, and answer questions about your destinations.

Budgeting & Savings

How does budgeting work?

Joywend breaks down your trip cost into categories — flights, lodging, activities, local transportation, and a daily buffer. You see exactly where your money goes.

How accurate are Joywend's trip estimates?

They're planning figures, not quotes. Estimates come from reference prices for each part of the trip, sized to your family. Once your dates are within about eleven months, Joywend can compare your flights goal against fares on sale that day, and the price on the booking site is always the one that counts.

How do I track my savings?

You enter your current savings and monthly contribution. Joywend tracks your progress and shows how close you are to your trip goal.

Does Joywend encourage debt to travel?

No. Our philosophy is responsible, debt-free travel. You save first, then book as you're ready.

Booking

Does Joywend book the trip for me?

No. You book directly with airlines, hotels and other providers. Joywend shows you where to look and keeps track of what you've booked.

How does booking work?

Joywend guides you to book in a natural order — flights first, then lodging, then transportation. You book through trusted providers like Booking.com and Expedia, or log bookings you've made elsewhere.

Does Joywend process payments?

No. All payments happen directly with the booking provider (airlines, hotels, etc.). Joywend helps you plan and track — we never handle your payment details.

Can I log a booking I already made?

Yes. If you've already booked a flight, hotel, or rental car on your own, you can record it in Joywend so your dashboard stays up to date.

Safety & Privacy

Is my account secure?

Yes. There's no password to steal — you sign in with a one-time link we email you, and each link expires within an hour. Sessions expire automatically, and we use HTTPS throughout.

Are the AI recommendations family-safe?

Yes. All AI-generated content passes through family-friendly filters that block adult venues, nightlife, and inappropriate suggestions.

Does Joywend sell or share my data?

No. We never sell user data. We collect only what's needed to plan your trip.

Can I delete my account?

Yes — and all your data is permanently removed.
